All walks cancelled until further notice.

We meet at 9 o'clock on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the car park of the Delph Tavern, Tontine. Our walks will normally be between 8 and 10 miles with no more than 1800 ft of ascent.

They will normally be within 1 hour's drive in shared cars, from Orrell, with occasional forays beyond that in the summer months. The exact location will only be decided at 18:30 the night before, depending on the weather. We will try to publish it on the web site by 19:00.

Everyone walks at their own risk and sturdy walking boots and wet weather gear plus packed lunches are needed.

The Group is fully subscribed at the moment, but if you are interested, please check back periodically.

Group Leaders, Robert Anderson, Mike Crickett.

2020

January 28th, Burscough.

First walk of the year and the weather cold with wintry showers. A few hardy souls who were free and able turned out. Parking in Burscough by the canal we walked along to the Rufford branch on a circular route via Carr Lane,Daisy Lane,Black Lane and Wood Lane to Wanes Blade Road and Dean Lane to the canal where we had lunch. We walked back to Burscough along the canal with a detour down Carr Lane due to works closing the path at The Ring O Bells. Cold and a slight wet we made our way back to base The Delph Tavern where as usual refreshments were administered to thirsty throats. Well would be rude not to. Lets hope for a warmer drier year

February 25th, Rivington.

Wind, rain, hale and snow we had it all with the effect of a much reduced length of walk at Rivington. No visit to our base for the usual refreshment but a warm drink at the lower barn café before heading home into the warm. Lets hope next month will be kinder weather wise.
