Article published in our newsletter July 2017

Through our shared love of history, our group formed in November, 2016. Topics researched so far include: The Black Death; Winter Festivals; Hadrian's Wall; The English Civil War; The Cathars and Shropshire's Ironbridge 'Birthplace of the Industrial Revolution'. Possible topics for research in the future could include: Women's Suffrage and The Silk Road. At our meetings the pattern has been for 'knowledgeable' members to step forward and share details of their favourite parts of history with the group. It has been wonderful to see and share their enthusiasm and learn history in this way. Only members who are happy to give a group talk step forward; people are never made to feel pressurised. Day trips have not been arranged so far, but perhaps trips to sites of interest could be discussed and arranged at some point in the future? We average approximately 15 members per meeting. New people who wish to join our group will always be made to feel very welcome
