What is U3A?

U3A (University of the Third Age) is a nationwide movement bringing people together in their ‘third age,’ to discover the benefits of lifelong learning, develop their interests, make new friends and have fun in a friendly and informal environment. Within local U3As members form interest groups covering as wide a range of topics and activities as they wish. There are no exams to pass or qualifications to be gained, participation is for pleasure with learning being its own reward.

There are approximately 1050 U3As nationally, 101 of these are in the North West. All groups are run entirely by volunteers.

‘At its heart, the U3A believe that continuing to learn, develop your interests, make friends and try something new, is a life-long passion.’ (The Third Age Trust)
